SEND Information

(Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)

Hello, my name is Maxine Siddall and I am our school's leader of SEND and I co-ordinate provision for our pupils with additional needs.

At Creswell Junior School, we believe that all pupils should be supported to achieve their best; academically, socially and emotionally. We fully support our pupils with identified Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND).

We celebrate the fact that all children are different and have diverse learning needs and we make sure we tailor learning opportunities to meet the needs of individual children. These values ensure that all members of the school community are committed to working in partnership and this includes: parents, pupils, school staff, governors, outside agencies and the wider community.

Part of my role as SENCO includes meeting with pupils, their parents and with staff to help provide the best education and most suitable provision for each child.  This also involves liaising with a range of outside support agencies, including: Educational Psychology, Autism Outreach, Speech and Language services, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy to name a few.

I am very happy to talk to parents/carers about any concerns they may have about their child's learning, progress or any SEN needs and can best be contacted via the school office through phone or email.

Support for Parents/Carers

A range of support groups and help is available to parents and children with SEND. These can be found with more details through our Derbyshire Local Offer (details below).  Another such service is Parenting Additional Needs. This is a friendly and welcoming parent led support group based in Derbyshire for parents and carers of children with special needs. A flyer for Parenting Additional Needs can be found below.

Derbyshire Local Offer

The Derbyshire Local Offer provides information for young people with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities, and their families and describes what services are available within our local area.

SEND Code of Practice – January 2015

The Government's Departments for Health and Education recently issued a new Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Code of Conduct. This provides statutory guidance for all organisations which support and work with children and young people up to age 25.

The SEN Information Report to Parents

All schools have a duty to publish information on their websites about the implementation of their policy for children with Special Educational Needs. (SEND). This is called the SEN Information Report to Parents. In addition there is also the schools SEND Policy. Both these documents are valuable in providing information about how we mange, support and care for pupils with SEN in Creswell Junior School.
